Wakiso parliamentary nominations close; two candidates arrive by chartered helicopter

According to the Daily Monitor, the two-day parliamentary nomination exercise in Wakiso District ended with more than 80 candidates cleared across seven constituencies. Independent Kyadondo East candidate Khalid Simbwa and NRM Makindye-Ssabagabo flag bearer Philip Minduni arrived by helicopter, drawing crowds that police and army personnel worked to control. Wakiso Presiding Officer Tolbert Musinguzi warned that early campaigning would be treated as an electoral offence.
