15-year-old student shot dead in Kampala during protests after Kyagulanyi arrest; mother says army officers fired

The Independent reports that a 15-year-old student was fatally shot near Eso corner in Kampala as he and his mother walked home from Kisenyi amid protests following the arrest of NUP candidate Robert Kyagulanyi. His mother said officers on a UPDF truck were pointing guns at protesters when a bullet hit her son, who was pronounced dead at a nearby clinic. A Uganda Human Rights Commission officer said the commission had taken up the case for investigation.
