Acting Principal Judge declines to move Besigye and Lutale treason case from Justice Baguma

Acting Principal Judge Jane Okuo Kajuga, in a letter dated 17 October to Lukwago & Company Advocates, said the treason case against Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajj Obeid Lutale remains with Justice Emmanuel Baguma in the High Court's Criminal Division, rejecting a defence request to transfer it to the International Crimes Division. According to ChimpReports, Besigye's People's Front for Freedom said the response raised doubts about judicial independence; the accused deny the charges and call the case politically motivated.
