Civic Space & Media Freedom Single source Kampala Sep 2026 (day not reported) Severity: 4/5

According to her friend Raus Ninsima, quoted by Uganda Radio Network, human rights activist and lawyer Aloikin Praise Opoloje was summoned to Namungoona Police Station over a carpet theft complaint, where a man said Defence Intelligence and Security operatives had been tracking her, and she was then forced into a waiting van by men in army uniform and plain clothes. Ninsima said she herself was held at gunpoint when she tried to intervene, and that the incident came hours after Opoloje shared a video criticising CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. The Uganda Law Society called for her release; police and defence authorities had not confirmed her detention location or legal status as of 27 September.
