Anti-Corruption Court adjourns Shs3.8b fraud trial of ex-PS Geraldine Ssali and MPs after prosecutors fail to appear

Justice & Court Rulings Verified Kampala 29 May 2026 Severity: 1/5

Judge Jane Okuo Kajuga of the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court adjourned the trial of former Trade Ministry Permanent Secretary Geraldine Ssali and co-accused to 29 June 2026 because state prosecutors were attending a national prosecution symposium, the Daily Monitor reported. The accused, who include MPs Michael Mawanda and Ignatius Wamakuyu Mudiimi, face charges including abuse of office and money laundering linked to Shs3.8 billion meant for a cooperative society. The case also awaits a Constitutional Court petition by co-accused Paul Akamba, who alleges he was tortured during his arrest.
