Anti-Corruption Court declines to halt Shs3.8b fraud trial of ex-PS Geraldine Ssali and co-accused

Justice & Court Rulings Verified Kampala 9 Sep 2026 Severity: 1/5

Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga of the Anti-Corruption Court refused former Busiiki County MP Paul Akamba's application to stay the Shs3.8 billion corruption trial of former Trade Ministry Permanent Secretary Geraldine Ssali and co-accused pending his human rights appeal, according to the Daily Monitor. The judge said Akamba's allegations of abduction, assault and incommunicado detention, though serious, were not closely enough linked to the trial, and noted that no witness had testified since the case was committed in June 2024. The case was adjourned to 5 December for hearing.
