URN reports that UPDF and police personnel were deployed in markets, taxi parks and what authorities called opposition-leaning communities in Iganga, with patrols at key roundabouts and security stationed at the NUP offices. Busoga East Police spokesperson Michael Kasadha said intelligence pointed to planned protests by some opposition supporters and that the deployment aimed to prevent crime and disruption. Kigulu South MP-elect Andrew Kaluya rejected the claim of planned protests, saying the deployment was meant to limit political activity.
