According to the Daily Monitor, Grade One Magistrate Alex Ninyonzima at Buganda Road Chief Magistrate's Court remanded ten environmental activists of the Rooted in Resistance group until 19 October 2026 for a bail hearing, after one of them, Shakira Kasonga, collapsed during proceedings. The magistrate ordered prison authorities to examine her and file a medical report; in a separate session the same day, four other activists from the group were remanded until 26 October. Defence lawyers criticised the length of pre-trial detention and prison congestion.
