The Criminal Investigations Directorate and the State House Anti-Corruption Unit summoned five senior officials of the Uganda Music Promoters SACCO over alleged mismanagement and diversion of a UGX 1.5 billion presidential donation, according to The Independent. The summons followed complaints from SACCO members; CID spokesperson Tom Magambo confirmed the joint investigation. One of the officials, Abbey Musinguzi (Abitex), denied wrongdoing and called the allegations baseless.
Disputed: SACCO members allege the funds were diverted, while SACCO official Abbey Musinguzi (Abitex) says the funds are managed transparently.
