The Commercial Court, through Justice Ginamia Melody Ngwatu, found Monitor Publications Limited, NTV Uganda and two individuals liable for copyright infringement, defamation and related wrongs over an altered reproduction of lawyer Silver Kayondo's 2023 post on X, The Observer reported. The court awarded him Shs165 million in general and Shs20 million in aggravated damages, a permanent injunction and an order for an apology; the defendants had argued fair use.
