Corruption & Abuse of Office Single source Kampala 21 Aug 2026 Severity: 1/5

Parliament's COSASE committee, chaired by Nkunyingi Muwada, directed police to provide security to former Uganda Human Rights Commission accounting officer Margaret Lucy Ejang during her appearance, after she wrote raising concerns about her safety. The committee was examining an Auditor General finding that Shs70.41 million had been reported as spent on an activity that was not implemented as reported. According to The Independent, Ejang told the committee that her duties had been unlawfully delegated and that some salary-related payments were made under pressure, and CID was asked to preserve messages on her phone.
