Defence lawyers walk out of Kawempe court over failure to produce NUP supporters physically

After the Mufumbiro bail ruling, defence lawyers walked out and refused to take part in proceedings before Grade One Magistrate Damalie Agumaasiimwe, who was due to rule on bail for 14 other NUP supporters facing similar charges. Lawyer Kato Tumusiime said the protest was over the authorities' failure to bring the accused to court in person, which the lawyers said affected their right to a fair hearing and adequate representation.
