Detained opposition leader Kizza Besigye taken from Luzira to private clinic in Bugolobi

Winnie Byanyima said her husband, Dr Kizza Besigye, held on remand at Luzira Prison, was taken late at night to his personal doctor's clinic in Bugolobi after days of illness and delayed medical access, without the family being informed. Prisons spokesperson Frank Baine said it was a routine monthly check-up and that Besigye was found stable and returned to prison, while acknowledging he was not present himself.
