Downtown Kampala traders protest at High Court as Nakivubo channel case is adjourned to February 2026

Protest & Civil Unrest Verified Kampala 11 Dec 2025 Severity: 1/5

According to the Daily Monitor, downtown Kampala traders holding placards protested outside the High Court against repeated delays in their case over construction on the Nakivubo Drainage Channel, which was then adjourned to 24 February 2026 because the registrar was said to be on other duties. The case, filed by KATA and UNATA, seeks an injunction against businessman Hamis Kiggundu, Kiham Enterprises, NEMA and KCCA; the traders accuse Kiggundu of building without approvals, and his lawyers call the suit an abuse of court process.
