According to the Daily Monitor, the Electoral Commission filed an affidavit in reply in the High Court Civil Division in Kampala, defending its cancellation of the nomination of NUP's Busiro East candidate Mathias Walukagga. The EC, through legal officer Abubaker Kayondo, said Walukagga's mature age entry certificate had expired by his nomination on 23 October 2025 and asked the court to dismiss his appeal; Walukagga argues the EC lacked jurisdiction and that the NCHE had equated his qualification to A-Level. Justice Simon Peter Kinobe set judgment for 22 December 2025.
Disputed: The EC says Walukagga's certificate had expired at nomination and he lacked the required qualifications; Walukagga says the certificate remained valid and was equated to A-Level by NCHE.
