Electoral Commission declines to nominate NRM flag bearer for Kikuube LC5 by-election over name discrepancies

According to the Daily Monitor, the Electoral Commission in Kikuube District declined to nominate NRM flag bearer Philip Mbabazi Burnet for the LC5 by-election because his documents carried three different names. Returning Officer Emmanuel Twine said nominating him could have been against the law, and that only NUP's Phenhansi Timanyire and Paddy Kisembo, now backed by the NRM, were nominated. NRM official Dr Rosemary Sseninde said the party respected the decision.
