According to the Daily Monitor, the Kikuube District NRM Registrar declared Philip Mbabazi Burnet winner of the party primaries for the Kikuube LC5 by-election early on Friday, with 23,279 votes to Paddy Kisembo's 16,459. Kisembo rejected part of the results, questioning returns from Buhimba Town Council, Buhimba Sub-county and Buhuka Parish, and said he would run as an independent. Mbabazi called the exercise largely free and fair but said his supporters had been harassed in some places.
Disputed: The registrar declared Mbabazi the winner, while runner-up Paddy Kisembo rejected results from some areas and alleged irregularities by election officials.
