Policy & Legislation Verified Kikuube 26 May 2026 Severity: 2/5

Kikuube district authorities suspended daily markets and banned public gatherings in Kyangwali Sub-county on Tuesday. The Resident District Commissioner, Godwin Angalia Kasigwa, also announced restrictions on movement through Lake Albert landing sites. According to district officials, this followed confirmation that a taxi driver had tested positive for Ebola; he is suspected of having driven Uganda's first Ebola patient, a Congolese national, from Kyangwali to Kampala. Officials said about 30 of the driver's contacts were being traced.
