Electoral Commission trains MPs on biometric voter verification kits at Parliament

The Electoral Commission held a one-day workshop at Parliament to show legislators how the Biometric Voter Verification Kits will be used in the 2026 general elections. MPs raised concerns about possible pre-scanning of ballots, kit failures and voter sensitisation, and EC officials said safeguards and alternative measures would be in place. According to The Independent, the EC has procured 109,142 kits for 50,739 polling stations.
