Health Monitoring Unit closes unlicensed clinic in Mulago and arrests proprietor after newborn's death

The Health Monitoring Unit under the Office of the President closed Alpha Medical Clinic in Mulago and arrested its proprietor following the death of a newborn delivered at the facility. HMU head Dr Steven Atala Ayela said the clinic was unlicensed, in unhygienic condition, and run by a nurse who was conducting deliveries without midwifery qualifications. The proprietor was taken to Mulago Police Station for investigation.
