Heavy army and police deployment across Kampala as Museveni is sworn in for new term

According to URN, soldiers and police from the UPDF, Special Forces Command, Field Force Unit and counter-terrorism units were deployed across Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono and sealed off key junctions as Yoweri Museveni prepared to take the oath at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said the deployment was meant to pre-empt threats. A boda boda rider quoted in the report alleged that security was beating other riders and impounding motorcycles while a pro-NRM boda boda convoy that brought Kampala Road to a standstill was left alone.
