High Court denies bail to SSP Nickson Karuhanga in Joan Kagezi murder case

Justice Isaac Muwata of the High Court in Kampala dismissed a bail application by Senior Superintendent of Police Nickson Agasiirwe Karuhanga, who is charged with murder over the 2015 killing of state prosecutor Joan Kagezi. The judge ruled that the 180-day remand rule did not entitle him to bail because an indictment had already been filed, and he cited the risk to ongoing investigations. Prosecutors allege that Karuhanga ordered and financed the killing; he maintains he is innocent.
