High Court dismisses Michael Katungi's bid to halt US extradition proceedings, returns case to Buganda Road court

According to ChimpReports, Justice Simon Peter Kinobe of the High Court in Kampala dismissed former diplomat Michael Katungi Mpeirwe's application for revision, finding it premature because the Chief Magistrate had not yet decided the objections raised by his lawyers. The judge lifted interim orders that had stayed the case and sent the file back to Buganda Road Chief Magistrate's Court to conclude the extradition proceedings over US charges relating to narcotics, firearms and material support to a designated terrorist organisation.
