The Observer reports that the High Court in Kabale, in a ruling by Justice Samuel Emokor, found that Rubanda district authorities unlawfully kept former Nyamweru sub-county chief Vivian Kwesiga on interdiction for three years, beyond the period set by the public service standing orders. The court awarded Shs10 million in general damages plus costs and ordered payment of salary arrears up to October 2023, when the interdiction was lifted. Kwesiga had been interdicted in December 2019 over allegations of failing to account for public funds.
