Justice & Court Rulings Single source Kampala 8 Jul 2026 Severity: 1/5

Acting Justice Simon Peter M. Kinobe of the High Court quashed witness summons the Inspectorate of Government issued to an advocate over his representation of a landowner in a concluded UETCL compensation case, according to ChimpReports. The court held that the IGG cannot reopen matters already decided by the courts or compel an advocate to disclose privileged client information without a court order or the client's consent, and it permanently restrained the IGG from summoning him on the matter. The IGG had said it was investigating an alleged overpayment of about Shs289 million.
