High Court rules URA cannot tax interest NSSF pays to members, overturning tribunal

Justice Boniface Wamala of the High Court in Kampala overturned a Tax Appeals Tribunal decision and ruled that interest NSSF pays to members is a deductible expense, so NSSF is not liable for about Shs 42 billion in principal and penal tax assessed by URA in 2013. The judge also ordered URA to pay the costs of the proceedings, ChimpReports reported.
