High Court sets hearing of petition against nominations in Nakawa Division West, including Joel Ssenyonyi

The High Court in Kampala issued a hearing notice on 6 January fixing 7 January 2026 for the hearing of an election petition by aspirant Ivan Bwowe against the Electoral Commission and seven other candidates, including incumbent NUP MP Joel Ssenyonyi, ChimpReports reports. Bwowe argues the others were nominated for 'Nakawa West', a constituency he says does not legally exist, and asks to be declared unopposed. Respondent Herbert Anderson Burora has said all candidates were properly verified by the Electoral Commission.
