According to ChimpReports, Justice Simon Peter M. Kinobe of the High Court issued an interim order staying extradition proceedings at Buganda Road Court against former UPDF officer Michael Katungi Mpeirwe until his judicial review application is decided. The United States seeks Katungi on charges including drug trafficking conspiracy and material support to a Mexican cartel it designates a terrorist organisation; Katungi denies the allegations, and the ruling on the review was fixed for 13 August 2026.
