Justice & Court Rulings Verified Kampala 13 Oct 2026 Severity: 1/5

The High Court in Kampala struck out an election petition by NUP candidate Moses Katabu challenging NRM incumbent Salim Saad Uhuru's win as Kampala Central Mayor. According to the Daily Monitor, Justice Nabakooza Flavia K. ruled the petition was filed on May 30, 2026, one day after the 14-day statutory window following gazetting of the results closed, and did not consider its merits. A related application by Uhuru and the Electoral Commission to expunge 28 supplementary affidavits was also found incompetent, and each party was ordered to bear its own costs.
