Immigration officers arrest 169 foreign nationals at Bukoto residence in Kampala over suspected online scams

The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control arrested 169 foreign nationals in an overnight operation at a residential property in Bukoto along the Bukoto-Ntinda road, according to Ministry of Internal Affairs spokesperson Simon Peter Mundeyi. He said the premises held computers and communication equipment suspected of use in online job scams, gaming and betting, and that many of those arrested had no passports. Officials said some may have been trafficked, and that all were detained at the Immigration facility on Jinja Road pending screening.
