Independent Asiimwe Mugisha refuses to withdraw from Kibale East race in favour of Minister Tumwebaze

According to Nile Post, independent candidate Asiimwe Chripas Mugisha said he would not withdraw from the Kibale East parliamentary race in Kamwenge District in favour of incumbent minister Frank Tumwebaze, the NRM candidate. His statement followed an NRM reconciliation meeting that sought to persuade independents to step aside for party flag bearers; the outlet says several independents have since withdrawn.
