Kalangala RDC suspends use of outdoor community radios and megaphones for political campaigning

Kalangala RDC Fred Badda suspended the use of outdoor community radios and megaphones ('bizindalo') for political campaigning, citing reports of hate speech at landing sites, in a letter dated 10 January 2026. Addressing residents at landing sites in Bufumira Sub-county, he warned that those spreading hate speech would be arrested. Community radio owners and a local analyst criticised the ban, saying it would cut off communication on the islands.
