The National Unity Platform announced Irene Nampala, sister of the late MP-elect Helen Nakimuli, as its candidate for the Kalangala District Woman MP by-election. According to the party, she was chosen from 14 aspirants vetted by its Elections Management Committee. The Observer reports the NRM has fielded former Woman MP Aida Nabayiga and that the Electoral Commission set the by-election for June 24.
