Kampala City Hall Court issues criminal summons against Deputy Mufti Muhammad Haruna Bukenya in alleged gold scam case

Senior Magistrate Edgar Karakire of Kampala City Hall Court issued criminal summons against Deputy Mufti Muhammad Haruna Bukenya after the prosecution asked that he appear, the Daily Monitor reported. Prosecutors allege that he, a businessman and others obtained $288,000 from a buyer in August 2026 by falsely claiming to sell him three kilograms of gold. The prosecution said it could not make disclosures because the DPP had called the file after a complaint by the Deputy Mufti; the case was adjourned to 25 November 2026.
