Kampala court remands journalist Remmy Asiteza to Luzira on fake news charges over story about Minister Babalanda

Journalist Remmy Asiteza appeared before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ritah Neumbe Kidasa on charges of publishing fake news and broadcasting without a licence, which he denied. Prosecutors allege a Daily Express website story published on 7-8 July 2026 falsely called Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda corrupt, and the magistrate remanded him to Luzira until 9 September, according to the Daily Monitor.
