Kampala Lord Mayor Balimwezo opposes proposed private redevelopment of City Square

Speaking at Constitutional Square, Kampala Lord Mayor Ronald Balimwezo rejected a proposal by businessman Hajj Hassan Bulwadda to turn City Square into a real estate complex. He said Kampala's public land was being handed to private developers and alleged that officials had 'been bought' by tycoons. He also said Kampala receives too little central government funding for the revenue it generates.
