Kawempe court denies mandatory bail to 10 NUP supporters charged with unlawful drilling

The Kawempe Chief Magistrate's Court declined to grant mandatory bail to 10 NUP supporters and mobilisers, ruling that they had not proved they had been on remand for the constitutional period without trial, the Daily Monitor reported. The defence said they had spent more than 180 days on remand, while prosecutors disputed the computation. The magistrate said they could still apply for ordinary bail and ordered medical attention for one of the accused.
