KCCA announces enforcement against street begging involving sick people and children in Kampala

KCCA Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki told a briefing at the Uganda Media Centre that the authority had stepped up operations against street begging involving sick people and children, removing them from the streets to government health facilities. She warned that caregivers who keep exposing children and sick people on the streets risk arrest and prosecution, and said the operation is part of a city enforcement campaign begun on 19 February 2026.
