KCCA demolishes two buildings under construction in Nakasero and Kololo over alleged planning violations

Policy & Legislation Single source Kampala 1 Oct 2026 Severity: 3/5

The KCCA enforcement team, backed by police, demolished a building under construction on Nakasero Road, which it said stood within a road reserve, and later another on Kololo Baskerville Street. According to URN, police arrested several people at the Nakasero site and seized construction equipment, and a group of men attempted to disrupt the operation before police and KCCA officials made them withdraw. An anonymous KCCA official said the buildings lacked approved plans; URN reports that the Nakasero building was alleged to belong to businessman Hamis Kiggundu, but it had not verified this.
