Policy & Legislation Disputed Kampala 18 Nov 2020 Severity: 1/5

According to The Independent, KCCA's acting director of legal affairs Caleb Mugisha said Nalongo Estates Company would not be compensated for Centenary Park land being given to UNRA for the Kampala Flyover Project, because the land belongs to government. Nalongo Estates had petitioned the KCCA council seeking to stop the handover or obtain compensation, and its managing director says part of the land is not public land. UNRA's spokesperson said the project needs all the land.

Disputed: Nalongo Estates says part of the land it occupies is not public land, while KCCA says the land belongs to government and no compensation is due.
