Lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi charged under Computer Misuse Act over TikTok posts on judges, remanded to Luzira

Lawyer and activist Hassan Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka appeared before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate's Court in Kampala and was charged with malicious information and hate speech under the Computer Misuse Act. Prosecutors allege that TikTok videos he posted in January 2026 insulted Chief Justice Flavian Zeija and Justice Musa Ssekaana. He denied the charges, was refused bail and was remanded to Luzira Prison until 18 February 2026; some supporters called the charges politically motivated, while authorities said the law applies equally to all.
