Lira High Court orders EC to produce polling materials in Oyam County South election petition

Justice & Court Rulings Disputed Lira 15 Sep 2026 Severity: 1/5

According to the Daily Monitor, at a pre-trial session in the High Court in Lira, Justice Fatuma Bwanika ordered the Electoral Commission in Oyam District to present the polling materials that petitioner Queen Dorothy Amolo alleges were altered, and set 18 September 2026 for the main hearing. Amolo, an independent who came third, is challenging NRM MP Patrick Ogwang Obura's victory, alleging the EC printed her name wrongly on the ballot and confused voters. Ogwang Obura said the petition lacks merit.

Disputed: Amolo says the EC's misprinting of her name on ballots confused voters; Ogwang Obura says the ballot issue has no legal basis and his margin was overwhelming.
