Lira RDC, Assistant RDC and PDM focal person arrested over alleged extortion of PDM beneficiaries

The Ministry of Economic Monitoring and the State House Anti-Corruption Unit arrested Lira RDC Lillian Eyal, Assistant RDC Richard Okello and the district's Parish Development Model focal person Michael Okello, according to the Daily Monitor. Beneficiaries said they were made to spend part of their Shs1 million PDM allocations on farm inputs they had not asked for, and Lira Woman MP Agnes Alinda Auma said they were threatened when they objected. The Lira CAO said the district stopped the process when concerns were raised about the inputs.
