Lord Mayor Lukwago says NEMA ignored his request for documents on Kiggundu's Nakivubo Channel works

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago told journalists that he wrote to NEMA on 2 August 2025 asking for documents, including the environmental assessment, on Hamis Kiggundu's projects, and got no reply. He said Kiggundu had taken trustee land along the Nakivubo Channel illegally and without NEMA permits, and accused the Ministry for Kampala and senior government figures of backing the works. Nile Post said it had asked NEMA for a comment.
