Maize traders under Lim Welo General Stores blocked access to the PRO Industries factory in Ndibulungi with placards demanding about Shs2.6 billion, a day after the High Court ordered them to keep off the premises, the Daily Monitor reports. PRO Industries said in a statement that it found inflated figures in the supplier's account and evidence that weighbridge staff had been threatened, and that the traders had rejected its offer to pay half of the undisputed amount at once.
Disputed: The traders say they supplied about 3,000 tonnes of maize and were not paid; PRO Industries says the supplier's figures are inflated and that its staff were threatened to change delivery records.
