Makerere Mitchell Hall students petition Vice Chancellor over homosexuality stance and alleged police shooting

ChimpReports reports that more than a dozen Mitchell Hall residents signed a letter dated 20 October 2025 to Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe asking for the university's official position on same-sex relationships, which the letter condemns. The petition also demanded accountability over an alleged police shooting at the hall. University administrators said the matter would be handled by the Dean of Students' office.
