Ministry of Defence turns down NUP request to use Kololo Ceremonial Grounds for 10 January 2026 rally

In a letter dated 8 December 2025, signed by Sam Kallu on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs told NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya that the party could not use Kololo Ceremonial Grounds for a presidential campaign rally on 10 January 2026. According to Nile Post, the ministry said the grounds were booked up to March/April 2026 and advised NUP to find another venue; NUP had applied on 27 October 2025.
