Motor dealers march to Works ministry over digital number plate shortages, demand end of Russian firm's contract

According to The Independent (URN), motorcycle dealers, car dealers and bond operators marched to the Ministry of Works and Transport and met Minister Fred Byamukama over delays in supplying digital number plates under the Intelligent Transport Monitoring System. They asked the government to cancel its contract with Russian firm Joint Stock Company Global Security and alleged that some ministry officials demand bribes to speed up plate release. The minister acknowledged shortcomings and said the issues must be resolved within a three-month grace period.
