According to the Daily Monitor, Acting Judge Mary Babirye of the High Court in Mubende suspended a recount of votes from 29 polling stations in the Kassanda South election petition after the parties could not produce the serial numbers recorded against the ballot boxes. The petition, filed by Eria Mubiru against NRM MP Abdul Bisaso, will now be decided on its merits after final written submissions, which the judge ordered within five days.
Disputed: Lawyers for the petitioner said not all candidates received the ballot box serial numbers, while the Electoral Commission's lawyer said the commission had produced records of how the boxes and seals were received and transported.
