Protest & Civil Unrest Single source Kampala Nov 2020 (day not reported) Severity: 2/5

According to The Independent, academic staff at Makerere University Business School in Nakawa went on strike over pay they say is lower than at other public universities and over promotions not reflected in salaries, leaving over 8,000 finalists without lectures. Staff association leaders said they would return only once salaries are harmonised, while the Forum for Academic Staff of Public Universities warned of solidarity action if the issue is not resolved by 31 December.
